CMAT (Common Management Admission Test is a national level MBA entrance exam. The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE- Approved Institutions / University Departments / Constituent Colleges /Affiliated Colleges. It is a good back up option for those who could not perform to the desired level in CAT and XAT.
Some of the well known institutes which accept CMAT scores are JBIMS, SIMSREE, KJ Somaiya, IRMA, Welingkar, N L Dalmia, SIES, IFMR, NIBM, NIA, BIMTECH, XIME and Christ University.
The date of the CMAT exam has not yet been announced.
Eligibility
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s Degree, whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2026-27, can also apply for CMAT 2026. There is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT.

CMAT exam pattern
The exam will be in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode with a duration of 3 hours

Each question carries 4 marks. For each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score.

- Quantitative Reasoning – Arithmetic, Algebra, Numbers, Geometry, Mensuration, Permutations & Combinations, Probability, Venn Diagrams, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency
- Logical Reasoning – Linear and Circular Arrangements, Syllogisms, Clocks, Calendars, Blood Relations, Directions, Venn Diagrams, Coding and Decoding, Letter and Number Series, Input and Output Statement and Assumptions, Statement and Conclusions, Statement – Inference, Strong and Weak Arguments, Decision Making, Course of Action, Critical Reasoning.
- Language Skills – Grammar (Parts of speech, grammatically correct sentence, preposition), Fill in the blanks, Sentence Correction, Para Jumbles, Correct Spelling, Tense, Idioms, Compound Words, Active & Passive Voice, Figure of Speech, Identify the correct usage, Synonyms & Antonyms
- General Awareness – Questions from current affairs and static GK. These would include national and international organisations, who is who, people and events in the news, constitution, economy, sports, politics, history, trade awareness, geography, awards, science & technology and literature.
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship – Entrepreneur – definitions & Types, The legal structure of startups, Entrepreneurship Challenges, Role of the Government in Promoting Entrepreneurship, Funding of Startups – Angel investors, VC funds, Concepts of Innovation and developing new business, Terminologies, Pre-incubation, Incubation, launch and growth phases, Intellectual property rights and patents, Marketing and growth strategy, Social Entrepreneurship.
