NMAT 2022 – Exam Pattern, Syllabus & Important Facts

NMAT is an exam primarily for admission to the MBA program of NMIMS offered at five campuses; Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore & Navi Mumbai. The flagship campus of NMIMS is Mumbai. Some other good institutes like XIMB, KJ Somaiya, and TAPMI also accept NMAT scores.

NMAT Pattern

  • The test taker can decide on the sequence in which the sections will appear during the exam
  • No online calculator. So, prepare for speed calculations
  • No negative marking.
  • Cannot skip questions. Cannot revisit a question
  • NMIMS accepts the score of only the first attempt though a test taker can take NMAT up to a maximum of three times (first attempt + two retakes)
  • Candidates have the option to take the test either at test centre with social distancing protocols or to take the online proctored exam from the comfort of their home.

NMAT syllabus

  • Quantitative Reasoning – Arithmetic, Algebra, Numbers, Permutations & Combinations, Probability, Mensuration, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency
  • Logical Reasoning – Statement and Assumptions, Statement and Conclusions, Statement – Inference, Strong and Weak Arguments, Decision Making, Course of Action, Critical Reasoning, Linear and Circular Arrangements, Venn Diagrams, Syllogisms, Blood Relations, Directions, Coding and Decoding, Letter and Number Series, Input and Output

The exam is far easier as compared to CAT. But then, this is true for every test taker. So, you need to still be ahead of your competition. So, prepare well specifically for NMAT. Most importantly, take a number of NMAT mock exams to work out your test taking strategy (considering the unique features of NMAT) to maximise your performance.
